FDA Clears Tool To Help Diagnose Autism

The FDA has cleared Neurora, a biometric tool from Argus Cognitive, Inc., to help clinicians diagnose autism in children ages 18 months to 12 years. The tool analyzes more than 100 biometrics—including facial expressions, eye gaze, and voice patterns—from videos uploaded to its portal, and is meant to supplement clinical judgment. A published study found it correctly distinguished between children with and without autism in nearly 78% of cases.

What this means for clinicians: Neurora offers an FDA-cleared, automated option to add quantitative evidence to autism evaluations without changing existing assessment protocols.
